Division of Bibliographic ControlWorking Group on FRANARWorking Group on Functional Requirements and Numbering of Authority Records (FRANAR)ScopeThe Working Group on Functional Requirements and Numbering of Authority Records (FRANAR) was established in April 1999 by the IFLA Division of Bibliographic Control and the IFLA Universal Bibliographic Control and International MARC Programme (UBCIM). Following the end of the UBCIM Programme in 2003, the IFLA-CDNL Alliance for Bibliographic Standards (ICABS) took over joint responsibility for the FRANAR Working Group with the British Library as the responsible body. The Working Group is charged by the IFLA Division IV:
A Review of the Feasibility of an International Authority Data Number (ISADN)The FRANAR Working Group has prepared a paper analyzing the feasibility of an International Standard Authority Data Number and making recommendations for future actions. The paper was approved by the Standing Committee of the IFLA Cataloguing Section on 15 September 2008.
Functional Requirements for Authority DataThe draft Functional Requirements for Authority Data has been approved by the Standing Committees of the IFLA Cataloguing Section and the IFLA Classification and Indexing Section in March 2009. The final text is being prepared for publication as part of the IFLA Series on Bibliographic Control. Please watch for announcements of this publication. Useful Addresses
