Robert Wedgeworth Awarded ICA Medal of Honour

At its meeting in Ottawa, Canada, on April 10-12, 1996 the
Executive Committee of the ICA resolved, in accordance with
article 9 of the Constitution, to award Mr Robert Wedgeworth,
President of IFLA, the ICA Medal of Honour in recognition of
the eminent services he has rendered in fostering and
strengthening worldwide cooperation between library and archive
communities and their international professional organizations
and in supporting joint approaches to better solve common
professional problems.
The Medal will be presented to Mr Wedgeworth by the President of
the ICA at the opening ceremony of the XIIIth International
Congress on Archives, which will take place at:
The Beijing Convention Centre
2 September 1996, from 16.00 to 18.00
Robert Wedgeworth is currently Professor of Library
Administration and Director of the Library at the University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Illinois, USA. From 1972 until
1985 he was Executive Director of the American Library
Association and he has been President of IFLA since 1991. Mr
Wedgeworth's special interests include:
Information policy, International and comparative librarianship,
International Book Trade, Copyright and Intellectual Property,
Management and new technological applications in libraries,
Academic and research libraries. He has published extensively on
these subjects.
