Call for Papers

Bibliography Section

Session Theme: "National Bibliography Agencies without borders - experiences on collaboration with other producers of bibliographic data"

NBA's are facing a scenario with at least two chief characteristics:

On one hand, increasing numbers of publications may potentially be included in national bibliographies. The web makes it easier to publish new titles and offers new business models and distribution methods based on downloads. This has led to an explosion of digital editions of previously published titles as well as the simultaneous publication of many new titles in both print and online formats.

On the other hand, production costs for the bibliographic data used to create entries in national bibliographies are often being questioned.

To meet the challenges of this scenario, NBA's should break down borders and look for opportunities to collaborate with other parties with an interest in the creation of bibliographic data.

The theme of the Open session of Bibliography Section is to highlight examples of such collaboration:

  • What other types of bibliographic data producer can NBA's best collaborate with?
  • How can the collaborators, particularly NBA's, benefit from such cooperation?
