Theme:

"Strategic Planning Tools for the Tomorrow People - Library and Information Professionals of the 21st Century"

Aims and Scope
Strategic planning for library and information organizations is the process by which people envision the future and develop necessary practices and operations to achieve that future. This program will be an opportunity for researchers and practitioners to: present and propose cutting edge strategic planning tools; share the strategic planning tools which help their organization proactively manage, plan for, and anticipate change; and identify new challenges in strategic planning which the profession's 'tomorrow people' will face.

Relevant Topics for the Program (but not limited to):
  • Assessment of Internal Organization Culture
  • Vision / Mission Formulation
  • Environmental Scanning
  • Competition Analysis
  • Communication Strategies

Language of Session
Preferably English. Availability of simultaneous interpretation into other IFLA languages to be confirmed and communicated to authors.

Important Dates
  • Abstract submission - English please, maximum 250 words, due January 15, 2006.

  • Notification of acceptance - March 1, 2006.
  • Papers due - May 15, 2006, (quality papers will be recommended to be submitted to IFLA Journal.)

Review
Papers will undergo a double blind review process and four to six papers will be selected for this two hour Management and Marketing Section program.
