Theme:

"Best Practice in Document Delivery and Resource Sharing"

"Best Practice in Document Delivery and Resource Sharing" will be the theme of the program presented by the IFLA Document Delivery and Resource Sharing Section at the World Library and Information Congress: 72nd IFLA General Conference and Council in Seoul, Republic of Korea, 20-24 August, 2006.

"Libraries: Dynamic Engines for the Knowledge and Information Society" has been chosen as the main theme of the conference and being able to offer a speedy and reliable document delivery and ILL service to local and distant users as well as to other libraries is a cornerstone activity of today's libraries when it comes to supporting knowledge and the Information Society. Papers that address performance measurement and benchmark studies, implementation of best practices, staff training and new services supporting best practice objectives are welcomed, as well as the success stories.

The IFLA Document Delivery and Resource Sharing Section invites librarians, faculty, technologists and other interested parties to participate in the 2-hour open session on this theme.

The session will consist of 3-4 papers. The deadline for submitting a detailed, one-page abstract in English of a proposed paper (which must not have been published elsewhere), and relevant biographical information of author(s)/presenter(s) is 6 February, 2006.

Authors will be advised before 15 March, 2006 if their paper has been selected.

If selected, a full written paper will be required by 15 May 2006. The paper should be in one of the IFLA languages (English, French, German, Spanish or Russian.) If not written in English an English translation should be attached.

Please note that the expenses of attending the Seoul conference (including travel, expenses and conference fee) will be the responsibility of the author(s)/presenter(s) of accepted papers, and at least one of the presenters/authors must be present for the program.

Abstracts should be sent to:
the Section Chair, Poul Erlandsen
