Registration Fees

Participant Registration Fees include:

Admission to sessions, conference material, conference kit and badge, admission to the exhibition, library visits, social events as listed in the programme and a walking tour of the Old City of Jerusalem.

Accompanying Person Registration Fees include:

Admission to exhibition, library visits, social events listed in the programme, one walking tour and the Accompanying Persons Tour (See Optional Tours).

To register for the conference

please complete the enclosed REGISTRATION FORM [Adobe Acrobat PDF: 40KB] and return it, together with payment, to the Secretariat. (See Method of Payment). Be sure to make a copy for your records. Confirmation of payment and your receipt will be sent by mail.

Confirmation of registration:

The IFLA 2000 Secretariat will confirm your registration within six weeks after receiving your registration form and payment.

Walking Tour of the Old City of Jerusalem

Participants and Accompanying Persons are invited to a half-day walking tour of the Old City of Jerusalem.

The tour will be offered on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 08:00 - 12:30 hrs.
Meeting point: The Jaffa Gate at 08:00hrs.

The tour will include the Armenian Quarter, the Jewish Quarter, the Cardo (main shopping street of Jerusalem in Roman times), the Western Wall, the Temple Mount, the Christian Quarter (Via Dolorosa, Church of the Holy Sepulchre).

Accommodation

Accommodation is offered to participants at special conference rates. These prices are per room, per night and include Israeli breakfast (full buffet including a large selection of hot and cold entrees, salads, cheeses, pastries, etc.) and all service charges.

Reservations should be requested on the enclosed REGISTRATION FORM accompanied by a deposit of one night's accommodation per room. Be sure to indicate two (2) choices on the registration form. The Secretariat reserves the right to assign alternate accommodation if your choices are not available.

Tour of the Judean Plains - "Samson Country" - and the Cave of Sorek, an unusual geological phenomenon. Visit a nearby kibbutz to learn about the special lifestyle of its members. Explore the Beit-Guvrin-Lahish excavations.

C-2 Dead Sea / Massada

Saturday, 19 August; 08:30 - 17:00

Drive through the Judean Desert to the Dead Sea. Tour the Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered and the ancient Herodian fortress of Massada. Time permitting, enjoy a "swim" in the Dead Sea.

C-3 Northern Israel

Sunday, 20 August; 07:30 - 18:00

Drive via the Jordan Valley to Beit She'an for a tour of the ancient Roman ruins. Continue to Tiberias on the Sea of Galilee; visit Tabgha, Capernaum and Nazareth. Participants can be dropped off at Ben Gurion International Airport on the return trip to Jerusalem.

C-4 Dig for a Day

Tuesday, 15 August;

The program includes: orientation; excavation seminar; history and development of the site; instruction in excavation techniques, sifting and pottery examination; tour of excavation site.

Drive from Jerusalem to Cairo. Overnight in Cairo.

21 August:
Visit Cairo Museum. Visit Old Cairo taking in Saladin's Citadel and Mohammed Ali Mosque. On to the Khan El Khalili Open Air Bazaar. Overnight in Cairo.

22 August:
Return to Tel Aviv.

20 August:
After crossing the border to Jordan drive to Madaba to see the ancient mosaic map of the Holyland. Continue to Mt. Nebo, from where Moses viewed the promised land. Drive to Amman, for a short orientation tour of the city. Overnight in Amman.

21 August:
Drive to Petra.and enter through the "Siq" (canyon) to the red rock city, the ancient capital of the Nabateans. Visit the the Treasury, El Khazneh, the field of tombs, obelisks, the altar (Al Madhbah). Return to Amman for overnight.

22 August:
Visit Jarash for a tour of the Roman excavations. Return to Jerusalem. (Accommodation not included.)

CHAGALL WINDOWS, EIN KEREM, YAD VASHEM HOLOCAUST MEMORIAL, MOUNT HERZL
Drive to Hadassah Hospital to view the famous Chagall Windows. Continue to the village of Ein Kerem to visit the birthplace of John the Baptist and then to Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial. Conclude at Mount Herzl where the tombs of the Zionist leaders are laid out amongst beautiful gardens (including the tomb of Itzhak Rabin).

This tour is included in the accompanying persons registration fee.
Extra tickets may be purchased, based on space availability, at the conference.

Method of Payment

All payments (registration, accommodation, tours,) - in US dollars - can be made by Bank Cheque, Credit Card (VISA, DINERS, AMEX, MASTER CARD) or Bank Transfer. Personal cheques cannot be accepted. One payment for all items is acceptable. Make Bank Cheque payable to: IFLA 2000

Completion of payment for hotel accommodation and any other funds due will be requested when you arrive at the REGISTRATION DESK of the Conference. Please bring a copy of you bank statement to prevent any misunderstandings. Please note: payment in Israeli currency is subject to Value Added Tax (presently 17%).

Cancellation Policy

In the event you cannot participate in the conference your registration may be reassigned to another person until 1 June 2000. Please notify the Secretariat.
If you are unable to arrange a replacement, refunds will be made according to the formula below. Refunds will be processed after the conference. Cancellations must be received by the Secretariat in writing (fax and email accepted).

For Cancellations Received by 1 June 2000:

50% of Registration fees will be refunded.
Accommodation/Tour deposit will be refunded minus $25 handling fee
No refunds after 1 June 2000
