IFLA Honorary Fellow

Henriette D. Avram
1920 - 2006

Ms Henriette D. Avram

On 22 April 2006 Henriette Avram passed away at the age of 86.

Henriette D. Avram retired as Associate Librarian from the Library of Congress (USA) in 1992 after 26 years of service for that institution.

Avram was awarded an IFLA Honorary Fellowship at the conference in Brighton (UK) in 1987 for her activities in developing and implementing the MARC (Machine Readable Cataloguing) format, one of the major modern standards in our profession which became the main tool for the communication of bibliographic data.

An obituary will be published in a forthcoming issue of IFLA Journal
