Preserving our pictorial heritage:
Photographs in African collections

Invitation
Your institution is hereby invited to send one participant to the above mentioned workshop. This workshop organized by IFLA Africa Section and the PAC office for Southern Africa, sponsored by IFLA ALP will focus on the preservation of photographic collections housed in libraries, archives and museums.
Topics will range from the history of photographs, the identification of photographs, photographic albums, practical sessions on the handling and storage of images. The workshop will end with a full day interactive workshop on digitization.
The organizing committee is inviting curatorial staff dealing direct with photograph collections to participate.
The organizing committee would like a fairly wide representation from Southern Africa. Unfortunately the available budget will restrict our goals.
Application Form
All applications should reach Hertha Lukileni not later than 3 March 2006.
All other expenses like air fares, accommodation, lunch and a tool kit will be paid from the workshop budget. Participants are however advised to make own provision for evening meals.
