IFLA Council Report 1997-1999PRESS RELEASE : for immediate release IFLA is proud to present to you the 1997-1999 Council Report. We apologize for the delay due to technical problems. 'The Council Report demonstrates the activities of IFLA's Divison ans Sections during the preceding period, and gives general information to those interested in the profession, but unaware of the functional procedures of IFLA.'

IFLA Secretary General This Council Report lists highlights of the past two years of IFLA's professional work, amongst many other things the following examples: The Opening of IFLA's Free Access to Information and Freedom of Expression (FAIFE) Office in Copenhagen; the finalisation and approval by UNESCO of the School Library Manifesto; the establishment of Guidelines for OPAC Displays; start of the International Presevation Issues, a series of publications on conservation; the promotion of using permanent paper worldwide; approval of IFLA's Guidelines for Braille Users; the creation of the Danida Grant, which enabled several participants of developing countries to attend the IFLA Conference in Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Bangkok and several regional training sessions on different topics.
