The Hong Kong Library and Information Network: A Virtual Gateway to ChinaPRESS RELEASE: Hong Kong Library Association - The Pre-IFLA 1996 Programme August 21-23, 1996, Hong Kong Central, Hong Kong Island Programme and Second AnnouncementThe aim of this pre-IFLA Programme is to share with librarians and information professionals from around the world the level of library and information provision in the Territory, at all levels and in all sectors. The papers selected focus on local networks, collections, and databases relating to Hong Kong, China, and East Asia. The President and members of the Hong Kong Library Association along with the co-sponsor, the Urban Council Libraries, invite you to participate in this enjoyable three-day Programme, in which the importance of meeting fellow professionals on an informal basis will be stressed. In keeping with this spirit, the chosen venue is a small one which holds a maximum of 100 people. We recommend early registration, preferably before July 31st, 1996. Places cannot be guaranteed for late applications. The registration fee will include all refreshments and lunches, the evening banquet, and transport to and from the venue on visits to local libraries. The libraries have been selected for variety of clientele, location, and interest, so that a broad picture of the Hong Kong scene can be gained. Registration is only effective upon receipt of the registration fee: HKLA Members: HK$300 Regretfully, no accommodation can be booked by the Association. The Hong Kong Tourist Association (HKTA) can provide lists of convenient hotels.
