Cultural Activities

The IFLA 2008 Congress in Québec offers many opportunities for social networking. These events which also allow you to experience the spirit and culture of Québec and Canada are as follows:

SUNDAY 10 AUGUST

OPENING CEREMONY at the Convention Centre featuring Québec, Canadian and First Nations artists performing traditional and contemporary songs and dances.

The Exhibition Reception will take place at the Convention Centre. The exhibition will feature a wide selection of international and local vendors and the reception will allow delegates to mingle among the exhibitors while socialising with friends and colleagues.

Following on from the Exhibition Reception the Cultural Show will take place at the Convention Centre and will showcase the richness of traditional and contemporary Québec and Canadian culture through drama, music, dance and other special performances, and highlighting the 400th anniversary of the founding of Québec City.

TUESDAY 12 AUGUST

A Cocktail party will take place at the Convention Centre and will allow delegates to socialise with friends and colleagues in a relaxed atmosphere. There will be food and beverages served followed by a Video Jockey to allow delegates to dance the night away.

There is no additional fee payable to attend the above functions, but delegates are required to book for the events on your registration form before 25 July.

No activities have been scheduled on MONDAY and WEDNESDAY nights, allowing embassies, consulates, companies or other organizations to host their own receptions. Dinner is offered as an option on Monday and Wednesday nights for anyone interested.
