Call for Papers - Women's Issues Section, Public Libraries Section and Library and Information Science Journals SectionWelcome to participate in the Satellite Meeting to be held on 30 July - 1 August 2003, i.e., two full days, in Berlin on Globalization: Empowering Women through Information. Impact of Information Availability and Use in Society on Women with the following sub-themes:
The initiative for organizing this Satellite Meeting came when within IFLA the status of the Round Table on Women's Issues was changed to Women's Issues Section. The papers presented during ten years showed that there exists a continuous and growing need to discuss issues regarding women's information needs, women's status in the information profession, and information provision and services for women. All these aspects vary tremendously from one region of the world to another. Coming together to share present knowledge and future objectives and plans is the purpose of this meeting. Abstracts of 300 words in length should be sent by 15 March 2003 to: Program planning committee (PPC) formed of members of all three sections will finalize selection and send a notification to the authors of accepted abstracts by 15 April 2003. Complete papers must be ready and sent by 1 June 2003. Papers and reports resulting from this meeting will be published on IFLANET and possibly a selection of articles will be published as a monograph. The number of participants is planned at 30, including the organizers.
